Makayla Friery is a current fourth-year student in the Interior Design department at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). "Mak" is known by her peers as a go-getter who strives to enhance her interior design skills. Her goal is to translate her creativity into built environments that positively impact people's lives. Balancing creativity with practicality, she is dedicated to creating spaces that are functional, inclusive, and adaptive to the ever-changing needs of environments. She is excited to continue learning in pursuit of a future in the interior design and architectural fields.
Her favorite project so far is the Under Armour Retail and Exhibition project located at Parcel 5 in downtown Rochester. Being a native of Rochester, she wanted to create a space that would serve the community through interactive customer experiences. From this, she came up with an interior exhibition area that showcases professional athletes that got their start in Rochester. Moreover, the site is meant to inspire young athletes and bring the community together through the love of sports.
