The Susquehanna River has long played a vital role in Wyalusing’s history, shaping the town’s growth and identity amidst its distinctive hilly terrain. This design draws inspiration from that legacy, incorporating sweeping, wavelike forms and natural finishes that reference the river’s movement. These elements and patterns subtly reinforce wayfinding and create a visual narrative that connects users to the surrounding natural landscape. Equally important was the emphasis on comfort and flexibility within teaching and staff areas. The design supports a range of learning styles and instructional needs, resulting in adaptable environments that respond to both current educational goals and future growth, all while maintaining a strong sense of place rooted in the community’s natural and historical context.

I led the interior design efforts on this project, driving overall design direction, finish selections, spatial planning, and circulation strategies across key areas including the lobby, staff suite, auditorium renovation and expansion, classrooms, and corridors. Through close collaboration with the client and end users, we developed thoughtful, tailored interior solutions that support functionality, identity, and long-term use.
