Existing Conditions
9-17 Clinton Street is located in the Midtown District of Rochester. Being the psychological center of downtown Rochester, this area was once popular as a shopping district. Previously known as the Phoenix building, this once Classical, turned International style building was home to the International Order of Odd Fellows.
Concept Statement
In ancient times, the well was both symbolically, and often literally, located at the center of a community. Being a means of life, the well-represented all resources necessary for a community to thrive. This revitalized building aims to bring a renewed sense of community to the city center to be a place of diversity, expression, and unity. Despite the cultural and economic divisions from which Rochester suffers from, we can come together with a shared purpose. To support, engage, create opportunity, and commit to building a new foundation.
